It is a common notion among many people that if they erase their computer historyand close their browser, the trails of their online activities will vanish forever. However, this is far from what the actual truth is all about. Do you know that the hard-drive of your computer stores a lot of information about what you have been busy doing offline and online. Imagine what will happen if the history of your offline and online activities are exposed in front of your spouse, kids, family friends, boss or colleague. Won’t the situation get extremely embarrassing or uncomfortable if some facts that you have kept as your closely guarded secrets till date suddenly become revealed and become the hot topic of discussion? Whether you are addicted to watching porn sites or surfing the net on the sly from your workplace, your computer history may spill the beans and jeopardize your personal and professional life. Not only will your image of the perfect husband, perfect parent or an efficient employee take a beating but the humiliation that you face will rob your peace of mind. Perhaps you now realize why it is so crucial to delete your computer history so that your privacy is not invaded. If you use Microsoft Internet Explorer, use these steps to erase your computer history:

·IE 6 and 7 users can choose in succession “Tools”, “Internet Options”, and then the “Delete” or “Delete Files” button. These people may even click the “Advanced” tab, visit the “Security” section and check the tab marked “Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed” to clear their computer history.

·People who use IE 4 on an Apple Macintosh can delete computer history by clicking these tabs one after the other-”Hard Drive” icon, “System”, “Preferences” and “Explorer”. Finally, the history file should be moved to the trash folder.

·Web surfers who use IE 3 can clear their browsing history by choosing the “View” menu, selecting “Options” from there, opening the tab marked “Advanced”, clicking the “Settings” tab, and then finally choosing the “Empty Folder” button.

For Mozilla Firefox users, the steps begin with clicking “Tools” menu, “Options” tab, the “Privacy” button, and then a click on the button marked “Clear Now” or “Clear” which can be found under “History” tab. These web surfers may even press three keys marked Ctrl, Shift and Delete to get the Clear Data Window opened. From there, they will need to check the applicable boxes to wipe out browsing history.
Netscape users can clear computer history files by clicking the menu labeled “Edit” and then select “Preferences” and “History”. Lastly, the “Clear History” button should be clicked.

So, always remember to clear your past computer history to have peace of mind and avoid your sensitive data and information from falling into the wrong hands.
